Up in the Air

We survived our first long flight with both kids!  I think Will and Anna were almost as excited about the plane ride as the entire vacation.  This was Anna's first plane trip.  For Will, it was the first he remembers. Delta treated us well, whisking us to the front of the security line, giving the kids junior pilot wings, and loading us up with enough extra snacks to get us through the flight and the entire next day! Will's ears bothered him quite a bit on the descent (and the entire plane knew it), but on the whole, they were really good travelers. The highlight of the day was the shuttle bus ride from the terminal to the rental car agency.  Both kids were thrilled to ride the bus, pick their own seats and NOT wear a seatbelt!

Our flight landed in Los Angeles at 6pm. The kids did not sleep at all on the trip, so we opted for a quick dinner at one of Patrick's favorite places, In-n-Out Burger. It was as good as he remembered, and while the kids wouldn't even try the burgers, they devoured the fries and LOVED the name. Will asked to go back to In-n-Out Burger for the rest of the weekend, and Anna cracked us up by sounding just like Fabio on "Top Chef" every time she said "buwgah".

We then headed straight for Anaheim, our home base for our 2 days in LA, and arrived just in time for the Disneyland fireworks. Our hotel was right across the street from the entrance to the Disney parks, and we could watch (and hear) the fireworks from our beds. Luckily, the kids slept through all the commotion and we were able to tuck them right in. Patrick and I weren't long behind... we needed to rest up for the fun ahead.
